about us
COMREC Day Options provides you with a choice of activities. Each day we offer a Vocational, Recreational/Social and Lifeskills/Centre-Based activity to choose from. We operate from our own purpose designed air-conditioned venues, 5 days a week for 48 weeks of the year, taking a 4 week break over Christmas. We care for clients with a vast range of disabilties, from low to high support, and can offer from 1 to 5 days per week.
On 28th October 1993, Lance and Judy Jones founded what was to become South Australia's best Day Options Programme. COMREC initially opened it's doors for school holiday camps and wilderness adventures. COMREC's famous "Go Wild"" programme was named "Australia's Best School Holiday Programme" and Lance Jones became the only person to have ever won the prestigious "Outdoor Recreation Award" twice.
COMREC commenced offering integration places for people with a disability as part of it's school holiday offerings, and as a separate Community Integration Programme. COMREC's "Interec!" programme soon became a model for "Day Options" as we know it, winning COMREC several more awards for innovation. Beleive it or not, the original co-ordinator of that programme from 1993, Pam Miles, still works at COMREC North!
